NILAI, August 4th, 2023 -Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) recently achieved its long-held vision of owning a mobile dental clinic, marking the occasion with a brief key-handing ceremony held at USIM’s Lecture Hall 2.

USIM had previously secured an allocation of RM2.1 million from the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) as a part of the KPT Prihatin, Komuniti Sejahtera (KRIS) Program. This funding was specifically designated for the USIM Faculty of Dentistry Mobile Dental Clinic project.

Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani stated in his speech that the Mobile Dental Clinic project embodies the Faculty of Dentistry’s commitment at USIM, empowering them to serve the community effectively and comprehensively through an outreach program. With this initiative, dental treatments can now be delivered directly to required locations, eliminating the need for patients to visit the existing dental treatment centers, whether at the faculty or the USIM Dental Clinic.

He added that the bus, transformed into a mobile dental clinic, is equipped with two dental chairs and an array of dental equipment, ensuring the provision of effective outreach dental services. The vehicle is thoughtfully designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities and the elderly.

The introduction of the Mobile Dental Clinic Bus empowers USIM dental students to engage even more deeply in outreach projects, enriching their participation in broader community service initiatives that contribute to the overall well-being of the community.
